I've always been a big vampire fan, and I was mightily disappointed a few years ago when reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer suddenly disappeared! (Of course TNT still runs Angel, but...it just isn't the same).
Magically, BUFFY has reappeared on FX, every morning from 7-9! So I figured what better way to kick off a "spooktacular hop" than with a look back at Buffy! (info courtesy of tv.com)
"In every generation there is a chosen one... she alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer."
Buffy Summers knows this tale by heart, and no matter how hard she tries to be just a "normal girl", she can not escape from her destiny...
When “Buffy” first started it became an instant hit. The character Buffy Summers went on to be one of the best to ever be on television. The show revolved around Buffy, a vampire slayer (hence the name), who moves to the town of Sunnydale—a town that just so happens to be on top of a “hellmouth” where various demons, vampires, and creatures frequent. She, along with her watcher (Anthony Stewart Head) and friends, most notably Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother) sweet and smart witch in training Willow, Nicholas Brendon’s sarcastic Xander, and Charisma Carpenter's bitch-with-a-capital-B Cordelia, fought off attacks by various baddies weekly. Many fans became invested in the relationship between Buffy and Angel (David Boreanaz, now of "Bones" fame) . Angel proved so popular he was given his own series, and he was joined by Charisma Carpenter.
Buffy also had several other notable actors appear in recurring roles: Julie Benz as Angel's Maker/Lover Darla; Eliza Dushku as rogue slayer Faith; Seth Green as Oz, Willow's werewolf boyfriend; and James Marsters as the incorrigible vampire Spike. The character of Spike is a cult favorite still today.
The series had many great episodes and some that are said to be some of the greatest ever on television, such as season four’s creepy “Hush” and season six’s musical, “Once More With Feeling.”
The show was action-packed, witty, mostly well-acted, and entertaining as ever. It’s no wonder that it’s usually mentioned as one of the best television series to ever air, making it on almost any list you’ll look at.
