OY, more snow is predicted for Tuesday/Wednesday. Actually, around our area (NY/NJ) it might be more of an ICY mix which is no better. My human is already bemoaning waiting out in the freezing sleet for the bus to take her to her demanding job where she toils for eight sometimes nine or ten hours a day before returning to feed us!
Some excitement over the weekend when my human's DVR recorder shorted out - actually, it was my sister GATA's fault. She likes to sit her plump body on the DVR becasue it's warm and i imagine what she ate for lunch did not agree with her (else she was eating fuzzies off the rug again) because she threw up all over the DVR and shortly thereafter my human could not record...needless to say, thankfully the cable company was able to come out Sunday with a replacement, but we have all been forbidden to sit on the DVR under pane of death - although when the human's at work, the cats will play, right? Heh heh heh
I myself would never DREAM of sitting on the DVR (note from Maxx: You would too, Rocco. But you're too fat to jump up there) WHAT NERVE!
Anyhoo this inclement weather is excellent for reading and movie watching, so look for some cool posts on more books and my fave movies!
and now I have to go do commando duty on the DVR - I need the brownie points with MOM.

SNOW, GLORIOUS SNOW....
My human is sick of it, as am I and my fellow felines. sure, it looks pretty coming down, and before all the plowing and digging the landscape twinkles with a thousand icy stars....BUT....
Then begins the plowing....mounds and mounds and towers of snow - gee, how high can they get? the parking lot out our back windows looks like the great pyramids....and then there are the cars themselves. The ones that are cleaned out are just barely enough to get out of the space - and if you move it, and someone takes your space, where ya gonna put it? Huh?????
Depressing, really. I feel sorry for stray cats and dogs out in this weather. It makes me appreciate my nice warm home, siblings and wonderful human all the more.
there apparently is no end in sight to snow, glorious snow, so in anticipation of February, I have written the below:
White stuff drifting down
From gray skies above
How can something that looks so pretty
Cause so much trouble and strife?
Snow, glorious Snow
Falling from heaven above
Do us all a favor
And hit the Colorado Rockies instead!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
More posting next week - I've a lot planned, heh heh

An Important Message.....
As Head Cat and blogger, I pride myself on not only being entertaining, but on expounding on timely issues, one of which I will do today....
ANIMAL SHELTERS!
it's important, folks, to support your local animal shelter. I can't stress how overpopulated our animal kingdom is. Every year there are thousands of kittens born in the wild, so to speak, and without our local animal shelters many of them would surely die. I myself was born into a foster home and then adopted by my wonderful mistress from the CLIFTON ANIMAL SHELTER
But there are many other cats not as fortunate.
Maxx was born in the wild and rescued by my momma's friend's daughter's mother in law (how's that for a mouthful???) and my momma is proud of the fact that ALL the cats she's had over the years have come from rescue groups and shelters.
Remember - June is adopt a shelter cat month. It'll be here sooner than we think. Please consider the possibility of adopting a kitten, and dont' forget, older cats make great pets too.
For listings of available pets in your area, PETFINDER is a great site to bookmark and check out.
This has been a public service message from your spokescat.

Got Ghoul?
Okay, I promised you all my catly views on some books I've read, and this is the first....drumroll please!
GHOULS, GHOULS, GHOULS, by Victoria Laurie!
My human and I are both huge fans of Victoria, who happens to be a REAL psychic who lives in Texas. although best known for her "Abby Cooper,Psychic Eye" series, her "Ghost Hunter" series, featuring M.J. Halliday, is a real winner, and the latest entry isn't any exception.
When M.J. Holliday and the crew of her cable TV show, Ghoul Getters, venture to the haunted ruins of Dunlow Castle in Ireland, drawn by the legend of hidden treasure, they hope the road will rise up to meet them, that the wind will always be at their backs-and that the resident phantom won't push them off a cliff. If they treasure their lives, M.J. and her ghost busters need to get the drop on the menacing phantom...
Me, I kinda miss Dr. Steve Sable, MJ's former crush, but her new guy, fellow psychic Heath Whitefeather, is no slouch! I was pleased to note that the black pug she adopted in the last book is missing Heh heh - and I wasn't too crazy about her parrot, either - my suggestion for improement - Victoria, get MJ a CAT!
I give this four and a half paws out of five - good reading. - even without a cat in it.
For future edificatin, my rating system:
FIVE PAWS - RUN OUT AND GET THIS NOW! A KEEPER - KNOCK OVER EVERYONE IN LINE IF YOU HAVE TO
FOUR PAWS - EXCELLENT - YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED
THREE PAWS - AN ENTERTAINING READ
TWO PAWS - GOOD BUT NOT GREAT - A FLIP OF THE TAIL
ONE PAW - GOOD GOD, GET A BOWL OF KIBBLE AND DON'T BOTHER.
MY SECOND POST!
Wow, my second post already! I'm really getting the hang of this blogging thing, meow!
I wanted to write something meaningful for my second post, and I thought maybe I should not be such a "glory hog" and introduce in more detail the other residents of my humble abode: namely, my brother, two sisters, and last but not least, my human.
First: My brother Maxx. Maxx was a rescue cat, found in the street, stumbled into the home of a friend of my human and, as her last calico cat had just passed, and my master is a sucker for red cats, he was adopted toot-sweet! Maxxie's a sweet guy, even I have to admit that :) and he follows my lead whatever - usually leading him into mischief. My favorite thing to say is "Maxx did it!"
Then we have the other two "old ladies" - Trixie, a gray tabby, who's been with my master since 1997 - and "Gata" or "LJ" - a very sweet gray and white cat. Her only fault is she's a REAL scaredy cat and Maxx and I (particularly I) love to chase her around the house. She and I sometimes even engage in boxing. Fun.
And then there's MOM...
Mom's a hardworking divorcee who loves animals and would like nothing better than to turn her writing hobby into a full time gig. she squirrels away time on the weekends to write her stories, and has had a few published - but so far nothing big. Her latest, NO REST FOR THE WICCA, is an "indie" meaning it's independently published by Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords. Mom's still trying, though, to land an agent with other novels. I hope she does soon. We could use a new playhouse heh heh heh
So, that's the fam! And I, as head cat and blogger, will report on interesting activities, new books, books I've read, and so on. As a matter of fact, I'm almost done with one...look for that post later in the week.
Got to stretch my paws now - and I think I hear Mom in the kitchen!
Chow time!
Signing off,
ROCCO

FIRST POST!
Ah, good morning humans....my name is ROCCO, and I am the head cat/blogger here at the LoTempio household.
This blog's gonna be about cats, mainly...with some books thrown in. (My human made me promise that - i suppose this means I'll have to actually read HER books, too). Here I will post my catly views regarding life, love, mousing, and, yes...books.
What does a savvy cat like myself enjoy reading? Cozies, mostly. Mysteries. Books that feature animals prominently. Paranormals (I prefer mystery over romance, though. Two humans kissing - yecch!) I'll share my favorite books with you and take suggestions on new ones that anyone has to offer.
I'll also report on the comings and goings of my human, and my fellow cats here at Lotempio Manor - brother Maxx, and the two old ladies: Trixie (14) and LJ (10). Momma promised me I could have a calico chick one day - hope it's not when I'm too old to enjoy it, heh heh. My brother Maxx and I are both 2 1/2. Maxie will be 3 March 15, and my birthday is June 1.
Oh, and yes. My human wants me to mention her latest books, but my paws are tired right now. Not used to all this typing, heh heh.
We'll save that for the second post :)
