TWISTED TEA CHRISTMAS
A TEA SHOP MYSTERY
LAURA CHILDS
HARDCOVER/PENGUIN/BERKLEY/10-5-21
FIVE STARS
As the champagne flows and the tea steeps, Drucilla is so pleased with the reception by her partygoers that she reveals her secret plan to Theodosia. The Grande Dame has brought the cream of Charleston society together to reveal that she is planning to give her wealth away to various charitable organizations. However, before she can make the announcement, Theodosia finds her crumpled unconscious in the hallway. It looks like the excitement has gotten to the elderly woman--except that there is a syringe sticking out of her neck.
Once again Theodosia Browning and her 'posse', Drayton and Haley, are on the job! Theo attacks the case with her usual aplomb. Drayton seems like an unwilling helper at times, but we all know deep down he loves to help Theo with her sleuthing! Theodosia's latest beaux, Detective Riley, is pretty much absent in this one, but never fear! Theodosia has Bert Tidwell front and center to keep her on her toes! (and I confess, I've missed Tidwell) Not certain how much longer that romance between Theo and Riley will go on, though, because he doesn't seem very supportive of her sleuthing! Time will tell. Longtime fans will not be disappointed and new readers can pick this adventure up without having read any previous, but we highly recommend you do so! Five paws!!!!!!!

I love the cover since it is so festive. What a wonderful holiday Christmas is with all the love for each other flowing through the air. This is one of my favorite holidays since it signifies the birth of Jesus. Unfortunately this sometimes takes a backseat to commercialism. robeader53(at)yahoo(dot)com

I love all holidays but I live in Iowa and my family is all in Ca so I miss them every holiday. We do try to go out there in Oct we drive as there are 3 birthdays in Oct/Nov for my son and his 2 girls so we enjoy being there for their bdays and then also for Halloween and they love it as they are going to be 4 and 2. My holiday that I like it 4th of July as it doesn't mean getting together with family and from where we live we see several fireworks celebrations as we live in eastern Dubuque, so we see Iowas, Ill, and Wi several in each state from the living room. Although we have cats and pups and several outside cats that we feed and that is not their favorite holiday is it Rocco. ptclayton2@aol.com

Our book club has been reading Theo's series of adventures since book #1. Wonderful to have a Christmas themed new book. Thank you for the many hours of entertainment, and the fun discussions that follow! This one will be even more fun!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday is Christmas. This is because it is our day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. All the commercialism involved has left me sad since the true meaning has been pushed to the back. My fingers are crossed my name may be chosen for this book. robeader53(at)yahoo(dot)com
